**Sony Expands PlayStation Plus with Game Trials**
(Sony’s Gaming Subscription Service Adds Trial)
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a new feature for its PlayStation Plus subscription service. The company is adding timed game trials for select titles. This allows players to try certain games before deciding to buy them.
The trials are available now for PlayStation Plus Premium members. Premium is the highest tier of Sony’s subscription service. The trials let members play a portion of a game for free. The trial period varies depending on the game. Some trials last a few hours. Others might be longer.
This feature applies to specific games. Sony confirmed trials for several major titles. These include popular games like “God of War Ragnarök,” “The Last of Us Part I,” and “Horizon Forbidden West.” Trials are also available for “Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection” and “Cyberpunk 2077.” More games are expected to get trials later.
The trial period starts counting down when a user first launches the game. Players can access the full game during the trial time. If the trial expires, players lose access. They must then purchase the game to continue playing. Progress made during the trial carries over if the game is bought later.
This move follows similar offerings from competitors. Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service also provides early access to some games. Sony aims to enhance the value of its PlayStation Plus Premium tier. The company hopes this will attract more subscribers. Gamers gain a way to test expensive titles before committing.

PlayStation Plus Premium is required to use the trial feature. Lower tiers like Essential and Extra do not currently include trials. Sony did not say if trials will come to those tiers later. The company continues to evolve its subscription model to meet player demands. Adding trials gives Premium members another benefit. It helps Sony compete more effectively in the gaming subscription market. Players appreciate the chance to sample big games risk-free.
